Who we are

What is Cathot?

Cathot invites consumers to experience and learn about children’s products prior to purchasing them.

Cathot Origins & Marketplace Positioning

Julian and Jeri, colleagues and good friends for over 10 years, worked together to create this website. Julian is the father of a 3-year-old boy, while Jeri has a 10-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter. When their wives tasked them with shopping for products for their children, they realized just how difficult it is to do so. A few reasons why…

  1. We live in an era partially defined by information overload. When you browse any retail app or website, you stumble upon so many similar products that making purchasing decisions often feels difficult (if not impossible).
  2. While product information is easily accessible, relying solely on brand descriptions makes it difficult to discern the accuracy and validity of this content.
  3. Reading user reviews is often helpful but takes a lot of time, and reviewers focus on different aspects of products that aren’t always relevant to consumer concerns.

Collectively, these factors present information-filtering obstacles that make it challenging to buy the right products for our children!

The Meaning of Cathot

This is precisely why Cathot was created! Here, we set out to provide authentic product reviews and user experiences from the perspective of parents.

Every product listed on Cathot has undergone a period of actual use, and we only recommend products that meet our expectations. We also provide evaluations on basic safety, durability, age recommendations, precautions, and usage scenarios from a parent’s perspective—and even recommend compatible accessory combinations!

-Some sellers solely aim to sell products and may not have actually used them, resulting in incomplete product descriptions.

-Some product designers are not parents themselves, meaning their products may be flashy or fun but perhaps difficult to clean or sterilize.

Our Expectations at Cathot

For users: We strive to provide comprehensive usage experiences. While these are based on personal experience, they should mimic real-life scenarios rather than “official” brand descriptions.

For manufacturers: We’ll aim to compile user feedback to help improve product designs and (hopefully) encourage brands to produce better products.

Cathot does not currently manufacture or authorize the production of any products. Perhaps one day we’ll launch custom products, however, in which case we’ll clearly indicate this on our website.

We’re dedicated to providing a curated marketplace focused on children’s products that move past manufacturer design to address end-user needs. If you like us, feel free to share our website with your friends on Facebook, Instagram, and X.

Kind regards,

Julian & Jeri
